How we select and rank solicitors
Every firm on this site was researched individually. We look at each firm's own published information, independent legal directories (Chambers UK and Legal 500 where relevant), consumer review platforms, Law Society of Scotland accreditations, awards and peer recognition. We write original profiles — nothing is copied from firm websites.
We apply six criteria consistently across all specialties:
- Genuine specialism — is the legal area a real focus for the firm, with a dedicated team?
- Independent recognition — directory rankings, accreditations and awards from bodies the firm cannot control.
- Breadth of service — can the firm handle the full range of matters in its specialty?
- Fee transparency — does the firm publish how it charges, offer fixed fees or free consultations?
- Accessibility — Glasgow office locations, remote options, home visits, legal aid availability.
- Client reputation — independent review scores, documented outcomes, peer recommendation.
